Each time I watch CATS I notice something cute that I haven't seen before. Most of these aren't bloopers, but funny things I've noticed. Some of these from Lightfoot! >^. .^< Enjoy!! ~
Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats:
The cat who says, "when you're walking alone" is Grizabella before all her makeup. Instead of doing the dance with everyone else you can see her behind Munkustrap "walking" offstage.
In the first chorus, Pouncival is doing the same moves as everyone else, except he's hanging off the rocking chair.
When Etcetera says "are you keen to be seen when you're smelling a rat?", you can see the harness for the trapeze.
Admetus is Etcetera's catcher when she's on the trapeze.
When everyone is in the pyramid, watch Mungojerrie because he makes some funny faces. He's next to Old Deuteronomy.
When Jennyanydots hits the C, Pouncival covers his ears. Actually, look at all the kitties on the screen. They are all making horrible faces.
The Naming of Cats:
When the camera zooms to Victoria at "sweeter" her make-up only reaches around the edges of her face, but when she pulls away from the group to do her solo dance her entire face and neck are pure white. Then during her solo it switches back.
At the mention of 'the man over there' look at Victoria's face.
Notice Cassandra's eyes are brown. Later, during the Jellicle Ball, they are blue.
Makeupless Griz is back.
Tantomile's wig doesn't completely cover her ears.
Invitation to the Jellicle Ball:
You can see Quaxo in the drainpipe waiting for his cue.
The Old Gumbie Cat:
Watch Rumpleteazer in the begining. She pretends she has leopard spots, and then she falls down flat pretending to be the mat.
Before Misto opens the trunk, Munkustrap misses his cue! Watch his mouth, it says the word 'and' but we don't hear it. Then his head snaps forward and he says the rest of the phrase.
Look at Misto after he opens the trunk. He's acting very proud of himself. It's quite cute.
Victoria swats at Jenny's tail.
Jemima has to take her mouse mask off and put it back on again.
Jenny picks something off Munkustrap's shoulder and throws it in the air. A flea? A piece of lint?
Munkustrap kicks Jenny's tail, and it looks like she flicked it.
When Pounce comes out dressed as a cockroach, he gyrates his hips at Jenny.
During the cockroach dance, Rumpleteazer's shoes change from white to black in every shot.
Pounce is sitting in the oven, waiting for his cue.
Rum Tum Tugger:
Munkustrap turns his head really fast and some spit comes flying out of his mouth.
Pounce does a backflip when Tugger shows up.
Watch for the cute little 'Elvis curl' in tugger's hair.
Jerrie and Teazer are still in their cockroach costumes. You can see them in the bottom right corner when Tugger's standing on the truck.
Pounce is standing on the tire trying to imitate Tugger.
Throughout the whole song, Alonzo is sitting on top of the truck, and he doesn't look like Tugger impresses him at all.
Find Skimble and Teazer sitting on the car. It looks for awhile like she's very enthusiastic about getting off, and he's holding her back.
When Tugger and Bomby are rubbing butts, watch where he puts his hands.
It looks like Bomby is enjoying the butt-rub a little bit more than Tugger is.
Watch how excited Etcetera is after Tugger bounces off Bomby.
After Demeter hisses at Tugger, and all the cats are dancing in a line, look for Victoria. She is late, and running down the stage to get in her place.
On Tugger's first "about," Bomby scratches her leg, then Pounce sticks his butt up in the air and rubs it on her. She scratches his leg.
On the other side of the stage, in the first about, Admetus straddles the pipe and leans down REALLY far. He shows off his flexibility.
On Tugger"s other high notes and when the kittens are screaming, Quaxo tilts his head and acts like it makes his ears hurt.
When Etcetera screams, Electra jumps and Jemima gives her a very concerned look.
When Tugger pretends to play the guitar on his tail, you can see Etcetera right behind him doing the same thing.
When Griz appears, Tugger pulls up his ruff and swears at her.
Grizabella: The Glamour Cat:
Plato and Brutus are encouraging Pounce to scratch Griz. Watch how they act right before and after. The remind me of little boys. :)
Bustopher Jones:
He has fish skeletons on his cravat.
Look behind Munkustrap when he salutes Bustopher. Etcetera is saluting him, too!
After he salutes Munkustrap it looks like he"s saying, "now get out of the way."
Watch Admetus' face as Bustopher is tipping over. He watches him the whole time, but it seems like he was just going to let him fall, because he didn't make a move to help until someone else does first.
As all the toms line up for inspection, they are grooming themselves thoroughly.
When Bustopher is inspecting them, he completely skips Coricopat, who sinks down pitifully. He has such a cute look on his face.
Jenny passes out when she gets his flower
Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer:
When they say "for we are incurably" Mungo is standing to the right of Teazer. Then when they say "given to ROVE!", Mungo is now on the left side of Teazer, at the OPPOSITE end of the stage, so he can jump over her back.
When they are sitting on the floor rotating, Jerrie's leg hits Teazers.
When Teazer says her name before "and when you hear a dining room crash," watch Jerrie's face.
When they say, "And there's nothing at all to be done about that" at the very end of the song you can see people standing on the car waiting for their cue.
Old Deuteronomy:
Jemima and Plato cuddle at the begining of the song.
Asparagus tries to go greet Old Deuteronomy, but Plato is stepping on his tail!
Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer keep changing places on the car.
The Pekes and the Pollicles:
You can tell it's Jo Bingham in Vikki's costume, because of her face shape and her mannerisms.
When the "dogs" do their spin, Munkustrap pulls up his arm warmer.
Rumpleteazer doesn't want to go back onstage, but Jenny makes her. You can see them arguing about it.
Alonzo hits the "dog" on the head that's going the wrong way.
When Munkustrap has Pounce's forehead, Pounce throws down his "gloves" like a hockey player would before trying to hit Munkustrap.
After Tugger comes out playing the bagpipe, Quaxo's shoe comes flying off and lands in the middle of the stage.
Before everyone says "Great Rumpus Cat" watch Pounce. He's pretending to shoot the girls, and that made him late for the next line.
When Munkustrap says "or hairier" it looks like Rumpus Cat is trying not to laugh.
The Jellicle Ball:
When Victoria comes out, you can see Misto geting into position behind her.
It's so adorable how Jemima kneads the ground as Alonzo is coming out.
When Plato swipes at Brutus, you can see Alonzo and Jemima in the background dancing. By the time 'jump like a jumping jack' come around, they are VERY close.
When Cassandra says, "Jellicle cats have moonlit eyes" look at Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer on the right. Very cute. :)
Also, notice Cass' eyes when she says this. They are blue but earlier in the show they were brown.
After 'terpisichorean powers' you can see Exotica exiting the stage, but I never saw her on it to begin with.
When the toms lift the queens, watch Coricopat and Tantomile. Cori staggers a little and almost drops her.
In the same scene, you can see Bomby grab Tugger's arm to steady herself.
In the begining of the mating dance, Tugger and Rumple nuzzle a little in the background.
Plato's fingers are taped together.
The cats pair of in very interesting ways during the mating dance: Bomby and Pouncival, Tugger and Jenny, Tumblebrutus and Jemima, Electra and Misto, Etcetera and Admetus.
When a few of the toms dance and then leave, some of the queens come out. You can tell that they cut it at the end of the girls dance because they start to kick up and then in the next shot the stage is full and they are raising their arms instead.
Grizabella:
Victoria makes a face before Jellyorum even touches her.
Jennyanydots looks sort of like a pitiful mime in this shot. Why?
The Moments of Happiness:
Pounce jumps off the chair onto the truck, and then falls off the truck.
As Cassandra walks by, you can see Etcetera and Electra playing in the oven.
Alonzo really nuzzles Victoria as she passes. I'm surprised that he didn't wipe off half of his make-up.
When Munkustrap nuzzles Gus, you can see Jemima in the corner scratching her ear. How cute!
Coricopat signals Tantomile to take his hand.
Gus: The Theatre Cat:
You can tell that the vision is Tony Timberlake, the younger vesion of Asparagus (thanks Zi).
During his second appearance, the people on the pipe keep changing.
Skimbleshanks: The Railway Cat:
After Skimble says, "searching high and low" Coricopat and Tantomile look up then down then at each other.
When Skimble says 'all clear' watch Jemima on the left. She's doing it too. Then rewind it and watch Teazer on the right. Very cute.
When they sing the line 'and he gave one flash' Skimble steps on Asparagus' foot.
Asparagus points with four fingers, not one.
When the girls are laying on the floor, watch Exotica. Her fur changes five times in the smae scene.
Cassandra picks a flea off Tumblebrutus after Skimble says, "stopping here and there to catch a flea."
Skimble encourages Old Deuteronomy to join in the dance, and when He finally kicks up his heels, Skimble is so happy that he does a spin.
Macavity: The Mystery Cat:
When the henchrats are nabbing Old Deuteronomy, Macavity is walking down in front of everybody. It looks like a religion where they all fall bowing in front of him.
Demeter's black leg warmer jumps up and down throughout the whole song.
At the end of Macavity, the queens sing "Macavity" three times. The last time, Demeter is so caught up in her hip rolls that she doesn't say "Macavity." Then she realizes she missed her cue and makes an "oops" face.
At the end, Jenny comes running out and slips. The Jellyorum comes running out and slips and falls.
When Demeter is warning everybody that it's Macavity, Cass and Munkustrap wrap their arms around each other for a second, until Demeter comes and splits them up.
When Macavity comes out dressed as old Deuteronomy, Demeter jumps on his back, and he flings her, and his coat, off to the right of the stage. However, a split-second later, she, Munkustrap, and Bombalurina are sitting at the left side of the stage.
Mr. Mistoffelees:
When Tugger sings, "I've known the family to call" he pretends his fingers are a phone and holds it up to his ear.
During Mr. Mistofelees dance solo, the camera focuses in on Coricopat and Tantamile. Coricopat is looking up at Mistofelees, but Tantamile is looking down. Wonder what she is looking at?
Cass moves from the car, to the tire, to the car many times.
During Mr. Mistofelees, there is no one near the car at the begining. But, by the time Mr. Mistofelees pulles the red sheet out of the car, (actually, a verse or two before that) there are people sitting on and around the car.
Some of the cats raise their hands and ask to be picked for the magic trick.
Cassandra wasn't paying attention when she was chosen.
When everyone surrounds Old Deuteronomy and then start to back up, Victoria backs right into Alonzo.
Memory:
You can see Jemima's human ear as she sings 'Moonlight'
Look behind Munkustrap and Old Deuteronomy right before Jemima sings "Daylight." Plato and Victora are sitting together, as are Skimbleshanks and Jennyanydots. Right before the shot changes to show Jemima's face, Skimble and Jenny lean in like they're going to kiss.
Journey to the Heaviside Layer:
Old Deuteronomy and Griz walk up the stairs twice!
It's a paw that comes down and takes Grizabella away.
The Addressing of Cats:
Munkustrap and Tugger get to stand by the tire while everyone else stay on the floor. Tugger is on the right on the truck, and Munkustrap is on the left on the drainpipe.
Tantomile's neck painting isn't as detailed as usual.
You can see Old D sweating as he sings.
